For the monster dough:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 pkg dry traditional yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cups of flower

Add the yeast to the warm water and dissolve. Wait approximately 20 minutes for it to rise.

Add 2 cups of flower. Mix and leave on the countertop for about 2 hours. Refrigerate until needed. Use at least 2 cups per week in a recipe and add 2 cups of flower to make it grow again.

Here’s what you can make with it:

Strudel Coffee Cake

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup monster dough
  • 1/4 cup oil

Mix the flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add the monster dough and oil. Mix well.

Press this into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Spread apple, cherry or blueberry filling on top.

Make a crumble topping by mixing 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of butter and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.

Sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit.

Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
